Peppermint, a type of mint, is a plant from the Lamiaceae family. It does not grow wild in nature, but is a hybrid of water mint and spearmint. It has been known since the 17th century and can grow up to 90cm tall. Its leaves have a strong and aromatic scent of menthol, making it useful in the food and tobacco industry. (1) Various types of mint have been grown from Japan to Egypt, and it has many phytotherapeutic uses, including for digestive, menstrual, and respiratory issues.
